Google Chrome for Android incorporates Chrome Custom Tabs, offering developers the ability to integrate a web browsing experience directly within their applications. An example of this integration can be found in Gmail, where clicking on a link within an email opens the webpage within Chrome Custom Tabs, seamlessly embedded within the email client. Recently, Google introduced an enhancement to Chrome Custom Tabs.
Reported by 9To5Google, the latest stable release of Chrome for Android (version 122) introduces the ability to utilize Chrome Custom Tabs within Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. This means that when you click on a link within an email in Gmail, and the email client loads the webpage using Chrome Custom Tabs, you can now minimize that webpage into a PiP window. This functionality allows you to free up your phone’s screen for other tasks while still being able to interact with the opened webpage.
